Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American TV journalist anchor and commentary anchor for NBC News based in Washington D.C. Following a childhood within New York City, Mitchell received a degree in English literature from The University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in 1967. She was then a reporter for the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), situated in Washington DC. She became a Washington general correspondent with NBC News two years later. Beginning in 1981, she began covering the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. She was named the chief White House correspondent in 1992 as well as chief foreign correspondent for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a guest as a guest on TV news program Meet the Press as a host and panelist. Mitchell participated on a panel during the debates in 1988 among George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell won the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 from the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 for her role in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was a reporter at for the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, between the terms of Ronald Reagan's second term as president. Mitchell covered a wide range of notable stories, including the Iran-Contra scandal as well as the tax reforms to the budget as well as arms control. Mitchell travelled with President Ronald Reagan on numerous occasions to attend summits and discuss topics like the Iran Contra controversy.
